First Visit to the Dentist

How Do You Handle the Fearful Child?

Our bright, cheerful office environment and experienced staff will help make your child’s visit fun and enjoyable. We encourage your child to watch other children have their x-rays taken, teeth cleaned, and examination completed by the Doctor.

We utilize nitrous oxide, sometimes called "relaxing air," “magic air,” or “laughing gas” for our apprehensive patients. A very safe, odorless gas, it is used to relieve anxiety and calm your child during treatment.

You may also see Papoose Boards or “Blue Blankets” used in our office. These are used for the safety of your child and our staff. The Papoose Board was originally developed for use in hospital emergency rooms for safe patient treatment and care. If your child is unable to cooperate during dental treatment, it may be necessary to stabilize your child by using a Papoose Board to keep his/her head, arms, body, and legs still.
